Hi,
i'm thinking of doing my own B&W developing at home. Been reading up books and websites for research. Only one problem...i'm not too sure where i can find the stuff i need? eg. developer, fixer, hca, wetting agent, tanks? i've got like 5 rolls of B&W films, mostly 120. thinking of developing them soon. so hope you guys here can help.

thanks!

If you have not done it before, and if these are important negatives, I strongly suggest that you get someone to give you a hand. Do not mess up your precious negatives.

good advice. or if you really want to do them yourself, shoot a few test rolls and practise on those first.

Yeah, practice with a roll of uncut negs in light first, to get an idea of which parts of the negs are fitting into which parts of the spools. Then try it in the dark bag. Also, you'll likely need to be able to take apart the spools to restart in case the negs get jammed, so practice that too.
AP daylight tanks are pretty easy to load, a lot easier than my Patterson tank. I find that I typically only have about 4-5 mins before things get too sticky and I need to take a break. Ilford films seem to get sticky faster, dont ask me why.

Gd luck

Thanks for the quick reply. and the tips too!
Is 120 film much more diffficult to spool than 35mm? I dont need to get a separate reel right?
Anybody got any idea how much all the equipment would cost? Coz i'm thinking of gettign a scanner to scan them in too.

tank abt 20
the chemicals around 30 altogether. can skip the dark bag if you have a dark closet to use ;)
so around $50 altogether shd gt you started.

120 is abit different compare to 220 and 135,if your reel have a plastic notch,it is the spacer that allow you to seperate from the first roll and the second rolls that you load in,135 and 220 can load in a single rolls,120 need to load in two rolls in a single reel,it is not recommanded to load 1 rolls or you will facing the aging of the chemicals, the chemical you load in can develope two rolls,if 1 is loaded, what is the time for the second roll if you only load in 1 roll?
