I have ran out of ideas! I'm looking for a Canon QL-17 GII thanks to royalwithcheese recommendation true enough, I went to City Hall area to find. I went to both shops beside CP, the shop that carries Billingham(Forgot the name), TCW, both P&G and benro. All do not have the exact model I'm looking for. The closest was a QL 17.

Is there any other shops I don't know that has a lot of RFs?

TIA!

you can try buying online from ebay ;)

I would have if I had a visa. Damn those things on ebay are dirt cheap. You can get it at prices next to nothing. But wonder how the condition is though

I can't think of any better place than the B&S section over here in clubsnap. You can deal with cash most of the time here...

oh, you mean credit card.

i'm not sure, you can try applying for a debit card? mine works fine for paypal.. ;)

of course buying online and overseas runs the risk of possible problems since you can't check. reliable seller items tend to encounter a lot more competition in bidding.

Hey checked your PM. I have an alternative for you!

I believe I saw a few at Camera Hospital. It's near Bugis but can't remember the name of the building. Tel no. is 63360025

POSB debit card can sign up for paypal... been using it often!

Maybe paypal shouldn't have accepted POSB debit cards, then i wouldn't have spent so much on cameras! =D

Anyway, other options are photo.net and RFF classifieds, and even our own clubsnap buy n sell!

Yep. Couldn't agree more. Too bad, can't find one for the right price.

Your alternative comes with a hefty price tag!

Do they sell them? I'll check them out. Are they cheap?

Whats your budget?

If you are looking for inter-changeable lenses, can try the Minolta CLE, Leica CL or Canon 7

My budget is 80-ish. I don't really care bout the body condition as long as optics are fine. I think I will stick with compact RF first. Still not sure if I want to dive 2 feet into RF. So now I'm just dipping my toe

Hmm then you gotta really hunt already because its not that easy to hunt for a compact RF below 100. Im quite certain the prices instores are higher than the average on B&S.

Anyway, good luck and welcome to RF & film photography!

I see..

Yep, might wanna try looking around for the canon QL17 then.. I'm not too sure about the price though...

RF is a easy & fast camera to use but requires a lot of patience during the learning process, have fun! Its the joy of manual photography ;)

Yashica GTN/GSN:thumbsup:

Yep good cameras, I saw a few on sale.

Just check for sticky shutter & shutter speed problems. Also, the yashica are known to suffer from the pad of death.

some stuff on the yashica:

Canon QL 17, imho, one of the best fix lens RF around during its time

the canonet ql17 is indeed a great rf

you can consider olympus xa.

handling not as good though, but it 's really small (and sharp)

i kind of regret letting my good copy go.......

RF is really a love-hate affair at times, u can take a look here at some of the shots i took with the g3ql17. sorry i was just too lazy to post on a photo hosting site and then re-upload here. so pardon me in requesting you to click that link haha.

Sorry to hi-jack your thread a lil TS, but my question might help us both.

I just got myself a pretty good condition yashica electro.

Is there any ways to brighten up the viewfinder? I cleaned the exteriors but the patch is still very dim for focusing indoors.

Just trying to have a feel of rangefinders and how they work.

I heard you can use a gel or sharpie to brighten up the patch.

Does this work as well as they claim it to be?? Just checking before I try it on the camera.

Hi Gangru,

I own a Canonet GIIIQL17 and it had a dim viewfinder. I used a small square of black tape to allow higher contrast so that you're able to focus indoors, in the dark, even.

Hope it is of help to you. Alternatively you could send it to Mr Tay @ Decamera Consultant.
