currently i know TCW, P&G (adelphi)....read from cs forums that P&G also got do calibration of lens so that no funny things will happen to it...but today went to ask them for some price quotations...like damn exp (to me lah). of course i will bring down my lens for a more accurate quotation.

but for the moment, anyone else got a place to recommend? no shady type stores haha :bsmilie:

If yours a minolta lens, I'd recommend you go straight to the service center.

your 400mm comes fungus free? (as in the fungus comes free of charge?)

bro...the item when i buy on ebay it's stated as it has a little haze in the centre element.
that's wat the condition is exactly when i received the item.
it doesnt mean when i look into viewfinder i see everything soft focus lah (if so jialat i can cry already...).

just that not song mah see something in the centre element.

but also i must see whether the cost to remove the haze is worth it or not, since my 400mm isn't rated exactly as very sharp lens...(bo bian budget and just wan to try out...maybe i got spoilt by my 28-75's sharpness...)

if remove at a high cost and the photos taken with the lens cleaned is not much better than the photos i have taken before the cleaning (assuming doing a controlled test), then what's the point right

sometimes the cost of repair will be much more than what you paid for the lens off ebay... if its not worth salvaging, then just write it off until one day you have the know-how or curiosity to open it up and try cleaning it yourself. otherwise total cost may not justify the end product especially if its not rated as a sharp lens...

yup...the quoted price of cleaning is almost reaching the price of my lens.
anyway its nothing too serious yet (hope it doesnt get to that kind of stage haha)....in the meantime will try to shoot more photos with my lens to evaluate better the situation

post some pics here...

ok...ah....the haze does indeed play a part especially in high contrast scenes - like daytime (can see photos a bit "hazed"). havent tried the lens in night time yet...

anyway here are some photos (direct jpeg, handheld, no UV filter attached) after i auto-leveled them (no sharpening done)...i think still acceptable...just need a bit of post-processing and maybe bummp up the saturation...time to shoot in RAW :bsmilie:

agreed, don't see anything wrong with the pics... could be bak-sai... :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Huh? Where got haze? Soft because u focus wrongly is it? Or the camera's AF guessed wrongly?

the unprocessed photos looked soft. the viewfinder looks a bit "foggy" with this lens attached or maybe i really got bak sai in my eyes :bsmilie:

some more photos taken with my 400mm lens...

looking at those shots, i definitely think its bak sai.. :bsmilie: but i know what you mean, some of them look a little off. are your other telephoto lense like that too? might be your settings or the 5D...

Which lens is this? 100-400 APO or a 400mm prime?
