Where can I rent a Cinedeck Extreme or a Gemini 4:4:4 uncompressed recorder?

Hey guys,

Anyone know of anyone or rental company that rents out the new Cinedeck Extreme or Convergent Design's Gemini?
Looking at footages to be recorded in uncompressed 10 bit 4:4:4. for my thesis film early next year. Does anyone also know how much these babies are selling it for in sg?

Camwerkz has a Cinedeck. Not sure about the Gemini.

Before you jump in to work in uncompressed domains, you'd need to see if your post production workflow will suit your acquisition choice.
Working in uncompress, especially with 4:4:4 color space will take up huge amount of storage space and you'll need pretty fast hard drive arrays.
Not many post facilities or even training institutions in town can handle full 10bit 4:4:4 uncompressed footage.

Like many filmmakers who came to me looking for post solutions, they went to shoot uncompressed for long form work and end up blowing their budgets for post.
Those who didn't have the budget for that kind of high end post ended up having to spend more time & money transcoding their footage to something more workable, and ended up with a compromise, which brings back the point of why shoot at such high resolution in the first place.

I'm all for shooting at the highest quality possible as opposed to using DSLR's H264, but practicality first....unless you're doing lots of compositing & effects work, or unless you'll need to go for 4K projections, else I think shooting AVC-Intra100 or even ProRES 4:2:2 HQ is more than sufficient for most work. Even Arri Alexa shoots in native ProRES HQ mode.
