But how will the loan work?

Owner will pay a deposit which he will get back when he returns the equipment. The rental rates will be per 24hr

I seriously think its a good idea. But then will take alot of faith and trust from the owner.

I personally would want to try out lets say some lens, if good and got use then go and buy after knowing how it feels and works.

not really, the deposit will be equivalent to the 2nd hand price of the lens, or a price determined by the owner. On the renters side, the money is fully refundable so he's not actually spending it. He's only spending the rental rates which can be pegged at say 2-3% of the value of the lens?

Deposit is equivalent to the 2nd hand price of the item??
If a 70-200mm f/2.8L then won't the deposit be a few thousand $$$?

I think maybe people can't afford the deposit.
Maybe to protect the loaner, can prepare some form of Black and White in which the borrower signs and his IC is photocopied, so if he does not return the item say...24 hours after the loan period is over. and is uncontactable can hand it over to the authorities?

ya...i think that should be a better way then paying a large amount of deposit...

You see, people cannot afford to buy the equiment that's why they want to loan or rent, but then suddenly got money to pay deposit..very funny.

the website owner has since migrated.
The problem with Black and White is, without a legal registered company, this piece of paper is worthless in a court of law. The police or the law will not protect the owner. Hence the high deposit. Most ppl cannot afford to spend on the lens. However, if they treat the equipment with care, then there is really no worry since the deposit will be completely refunded.

If you look at overseas, you will realise that my rates are really quite reasonable. Anyways, just a thought. I don't really need the cash. You can also deposit equipment or other stuff of similar value. Really, all this talking is useless. If someone is really interested, PM me or call me.
