hi,

i have 2 Yashica Camera that needs some servicing.
1) replace 1 dim viewfinder on non-GSN35 (don't know what model).
2) 1 shutter got stuck on GSN35.
3) battery not working well on GSN35

Any idea where and who can I approach?

I know it might be better off buying new ones, but the non-GSN model has sentimental value. So minimally I would like to service and fix it .

thank you for taking your time off to reply.

Regards

IMO, you could use the GSN as parts in case in the future your non-GSN is broken.. i believe some of the parts are actually interchangeable.. you may ID your model by looking at the model name under the VF window, near the bottom plate, next to the lens..
IIRC, if there isn't any name, it's the original electro 35.. there are original, G, GS, GT, GTN, GSN, GX, CC, CCN (these are that i can rmbr now..)

for the dim RF, you could try to use small patch of electrical/gaffer tape (abt 3mmX4mm) and paste in on the front of the VF.. It will make the RF patch to become split image but definitely more usable than dim RF.. If what you meant was the whole VF is dim, it probably will still be like that after cleaning, due to its age..

one thing about electro series is the POD problem.. to tell if the POD is bad, try to advance the film.. about one-third from the start of the winding, you should hear some distinctive "thump" sound.. if there isn't, then probably it's worn out and needs to be replaced..
POD can affect anything, maybe the shutter speed, maybe the meter, or any other thing.. but it may not affect anything as well..

if you still want to approach technician, i could recommend Mr Steven Lee from Camera Hospital, it's at sunshine plaza..

try google-ing "yashica guy" to find out more about your yashica RF.. electros are great cameras..
