where can i dispose expended batteries?

i am using normal AA batteries for my flash. any idea where can i dispose them properly, ie not throw into rubbish bin etc.

it's a bit crap here :thumbsd:. Only handphone batteries are recycled in SG.

NEA dun want to recycle it citing that becos of the reduction in mercury content from batteries bought in Singapore, the batteries can be placed in the normal bins and burnt in the incinerators........
