Reckon to have a look at Lowepro@Stealth Reporter 600AW is a good bag for laptop+camera bag. but not sure which shop in Singaproe do carry this bag.

actually i think CP still has the better range of camera-dedicated Crumplers. worth checking out. one possible option is the Crumpler Seedy Three, which is a camera/laptop combi, but it can't take very big laptops.

Roy, come, i be your tour guide. bring you shopping for bags and stuff. can give you definitive opinions on which bag is better for what purpose... :D

And whilst Larry is showing you around, I'll take care of baby Roy for you with my camera that is...:D

I saw CP has the new backpack kind, that can carry laptop on top and bottom is the camera compartment, something like the lynx bag. :)

the backpacks, 3 sizes. m size is farmer double, 160. pretty nice bag, been using it for a few mths. 15.1 laptop.

Price-wise i'm not sure. I think the wheelock place one is pretty standard. ie expensive. BUT i'm not sure, den again most crumpler bags are really ex! To me since i can use it both as a camera bag as well as a normal "goin out" bag, i think it suits me!!

:D
Just my thoughts!

hey josh

if you want to use it as a camera bag and a normal going out bag, get the seedy three or anything in their messenger bags range, then get a bunion insert.

the camera dedicated bags have paddings that are not removable.

the backpack is HEAVY, carrying the backpack alone is quite tiring for a day out. trust me i own the bag. and what's more, i only use a sony 717, and carrying it with a metz flash walking around is pretty tiring on the shoulders already.. imagine if there was a full dSLR set up inside, it would be pretty hell. add a laptop and it's worse.

the only solution to this is to carry it higher and of course use the chest strap to lessen some of the weight. but i'm usually not trekking around so i don't use the chest strap (coz it'll make me look like an idiot walking down orchard road like i'm walking a mountain range). but if you're going trekking or something it's a good bag coz it got lots of space for you to put almost anything you want.

hope this helps.

Heh
I think you got me wrong! I Already have a crumpler bag. Its the fux deluxe!

:D

sorry haha that was directed at roygoh

Thanks for all the response and suggestions!

And special thanks to Larry for offering to be my shopping guide and to espn for offering to take care of baby Roy.

Actually I am travelling alone for this trip and have only one day (Sunday) to shop and meet with friends.

I am still not decided between a shoulder bag or a backpack. I have a laptop backpack now and I pack my D1X eith a couple of lenses and SB24 into the main compartment (using a foam padded lunch bag to hold the D1X body). The whole thing is probably more than 10kg and it is heavy like hell especially after more than an hour of carrying.

I think a shoulder bag will be even more difficult to carry but it allows for easier lens change while on the move. Guess I will have to try out at the stores before I can make a decision.

Any experience to share?

Thanks!

Roy
