Where and how much it cost to clean lense?

Hi, guys.... i recenty bought a 2nd hand D70 and realised that the lense has fungus growing in it. As a newbie i need advise on where i can get the lense cleaned up and how much its gonna cost me. Please advise..... thanks so much :sweat:

Maybe you want to check out Nikon Service Centre. Ask them to check and quote how much will be the repair cost.

Hi Francis, thanks for the advice but was wondering if there are any other independant shops that do cleaning cos some friends told me that nikon service centre tend to charge more. haha

Subsequently, you can try Camera Hospital at Sunshine Plaza, Middle Road. Look for Steven Lee. I have been very happy with his servicing. Very careful, very thorough. Restore 2 of my Nikon prime lenses to out-of-box condition.

Do not bring to TCW as they are only middleman. Just bring to service centre or a camera workshop of your choice that actually does the cleaning work themselves.

I recommend going back to manufacturer for lens cleaning. I have asked some shops and compared the price to the manufacturers, and it is actually cheaper to send in to the manufacturer.

should trust original factory clean service.

if you send lens to 2nd hand eqipment shop, most of them are agents only and u may lose your lens quality after their so-called "service". They changed the glass, damage the internal structure and you got never known what had happened to ur lens.....:angry:

My colleague's lens had fungus and I brought it down to P&G at Adelphi to clean. Paid $95 but very good job done. :thumbsup:

Even a badly fungus infected lens cost only $80 to clean at Canon. $95 is too ex in my opinion granted they are not even the manufacturer.

Pls note that Prime Camera Centre no longer provide cleaning or servicing of camera equipment with immediate effect. The business have been bought over by the boss of Toy Plaza. You may still find Andrew at P&G together with his brother David if you need his services.
