Hi,

I have a few roll of slides and negatives. What's the proper way of storing it so that it won't fade or spoilt?

thanks

I catalog in file before but our humid weather make fungus possible on the film. Nowaday I mount them and keep in storage u receive then u receive mounted slide from lab. I place them in air-tight container together with film strip. A page of silicon gel, it can last for 2-3yrs before reuse or renew the gel. Cheap and good, easy to put aside too.

keep them inside my dry cabinet.

u got buy those neg film strips from BHphoto or any local shops. acid-free ones.

 now what's this acid free thing? more expensive? N what so special?

thanks

I don't like it mounted, cos the mounting cuts covered part of the slide, not nice :)

Then you have to buy those negative strips, acid free and usable with slides, to store them in a dark, cool and dry place. (notice the last 3 conditions, very important).

For me, they are mounted and in the fridge.

either dry box or fridge.
