As above, want to try something new, so decided to go for RF..

no huge budget to start off with, since most of my $ are spent on my dslr. :(

Yashica GSN/GTN or any of the Electro 35 series. cheap, easy and sharp.

how is the Voigtlander compare with the Yashica GSN/GTN or any of the Electro 35 series?

oh by the way, can someone educate me more on the range of Voigtlander rangefinders? they have so many in different price range that i'm confuse which one suits my needs and gives me the best bang for the bucks.

i can't say because i've never used a voigtlander before. but if you're looking for one with interchangeable lenses, then the yashica may not be for you. it's a fixed 45mm f1.7.

i've posted a few shots from the yashica electro 35 gsn in the streets and candid section...you can check it out.

like what Patch17 said, if you want someting that's interchangeable...then the yashica will not be the one...the Bessa could be what you are looking for. there are 2 types of bessa...one is with the R and another type is w/o the R. with the R is much much expensive! go to camera workshop to cheap some of them. have a feel.

right, what diff is there between the R and non-R? and around how much are them respectively?

The diff is that the Bessa with the R allows you to mount Leica lens...for this, you gotto ask those guys in the rangefinder forum...they know best.

the one i saw at Camera workshop for a Bessa only, is abt $500-700. With the R, will cost more...it's a cam that pros in the west still use to take glamour n commercial shoot.

Here are the URL for more info about the Voigtlander system :-
Camera Quest

There are many Voigtlander models around, namely,

1) Bessa T - with a high-mag built-in rangefinder but you need a finder in order to use. Accept only screw-screw mount lens.

2) Bessa L - the lowest cost with no rangefinder. Meant to be use with wide-angle lens where focusing can be guess. Accept only screw-mount lens.

3) Bessa R - built-in rangefinder and viewfinder bright-frame-line. Accept only screw-mount lens. Plastic body.

4) Bessa R2 - built-in rangefinder and viewfinder bright-frame-line. Better built metal body compared to Bessa R. Accept M-mount lens and also screw-mount lens via a adaptor.

Hope it helps!

correction... Bessa-T is a Leica M-mount.
that the cheapest non Leica M body.

hey thanks guys!

do u guys think it's cheaper to get it locally or overseas? be it 1st or 2nd hand.
