I suggest you try before you buy. Leica iii series is very fun but its a whole new ball game compared to M. Many things are different like film advance, film loading and focusing. The mount is L39 screwmount so M lenses cannot work.

my money is on iiif as well. i hear they are harder to use in the sense that they need one more step in focusing. no personal experiences in using it through. but yup LTM only

No expert...still learning and experiencing...from the front view, it is a Leica III (in USA Model F) [what is the serial no.?] in black paint with nickel fittings and nickel 5cm f2 Summar...notice the bigger chrome speed dial...due to limited view, I suspect it should have been changed or upgraded subsequently to Leica IIIa (in USA Model G) with 1/1000sec shutter speed and flash synchro [look at the back of the camera, is there a flash socket?]...i.e. a beautiful conversion set...:thumbsup:

It is a Leica III base on the the serial no. If it is original Leica factory conversion to IIIa with flash synchro... this is a reasonable rare piece.
