Hi everyone!
I am currently using a Metz 32 for my RF, a Minolta 7S. But it's kinda top heavy. What flashes do you use?

Alvin

I am using Leica SF-20 for my Leica M6ttl.

vivitar 285hv for my canonet, same flash i'm using on my SLR too...

I use a Nikon SB28 on my MP and Canonet QL17 GIII. Like you, I find it too top heavy and uncomfortable to handle, so I'm actually looking for the smallest flash unit with tilt capability. Seems like Sunpak 1600A is small and light but couldn't find it here.

If you are not looking for tilt capability, there are many small flashes around from the major brands.

i hate to use flash, but when i have to,i use the Nikon SB-28 becoz it can have more precise adjustment on the LCD.
some small flash have only full or ½ power output and usually give ard F11 for 2m @ ASA400, can't get the back ground nicely with it..
for SB or equivalent flash,u can set @ F4,or wadeva at 2m to expose the background too.

Hi again!
Thanks for the recommendations! I did a quick search, the S20 flash seems like a good choice, as is the Leica flash. What kind of batteries does the S20 use? I see the leica uses CR123 batteries.

Thanks!

Alvin

Alvin,

The Olympus S20 uses AA batteries x 2. It has 2 auto settings and a manual setting. Costs around $100 and value for money in my opinion. Just change to 2nd set of batteries as seldom use flash unless indoors.

The SF-20 would be good if you can use the TTL functions.

If you want more control over the manual output, maybe a SB30? Not not sure on the specs though.

Hi,

I also use the olympus s20, but I find the "on/off" switch too sensitive. There were several times when the flash was switched on while in my bag, thus draining the batteries.

Have you guys tried bouncing the S20 flash indoors? Using like white paper or plastic? Does it have enough power for say subjects 3-4m away using the auto mode for the widest aperture??

Thanks!

Alvin

Hi guys!
I came across this article about the Nikon SB-20. It seems like a very good small sized flash - 5 aperture auto modes. But it seems very very old, only place I found it was on ebay. HTHs!
