Hi All!

My wedding's in May 2010, and I hope to find a wedding photographer for both pre-wedding (sometime in Feb / Mar 2010) and AD shoots.

I hope to have non-cliche, outdoor pre-wedding shoots which capture the sponteneity of the moment, rather than the usual posed pictures.

My total budget is about 5-6K max, but I hope to get all photos back in high resolution, CD-ROM / DVD format. I would also like to get an album of selected edited photos for both pre-wedding and wedding.

Get back to me with your proposal and portfolio if possible yeah?

Thanks!
Samuel

Would something like this be acceptable for your pre-wedding (outfits can be changed to your liking of course):

http://focaljam.com/gallery/wedding/pre-nuptial/2008 - nadia and cuthbert/

I am willing to do the pre-wedding part FREE of charge, plus a very minimal fee to cover album production costs, in exchange for a slot on your wedding day as a secondary photographer.

This way, you have more spending budget to use on getting a professional photographer, plus an added coverage from a backup photographer on your wedding day. Sometimes, a backup photographer captures moments as equally good (and sometimes even better) than a paid primary photographer.

Another benefit is that you have nothing to lose to try me out on the pre-wedding shots. If you don't find the outputs suitable, then we don't proceed with making the albums (hence, save you cost), then you still have time to look for an alternate photographer.

Otherwise, if you find my pre-wedding outputs of you and your spouse-to-be acceptable, then we may also consider the idea of covering your wedding for a small fee. I can work out the details of the ceremony with you and the priest/minister, plus I can bring my own set of assistants (which means more camera coverage from different angles/areas -- less chance of missing an important memory/moment to capture).

You can reach me at 8189 2280 or via john@focaljam.com, or PM me here.

Thanks!

Oops, made a blunder here:cry:. I didn't realize that I replied to it as a post instead of a PM.

My apologies to all the wedding photographers here. I have no intention of destabilizing the economics of wedding photographers. I didn't want it to come out as another one of those "free wedding coverage" that some might have proposed.

To the thread starter,

My original intention was to give you an option for the pre-wedding part. It was meant to give you more workable budget/cash should you opt to get a more professional photographer. Because I understand weddings, and how important these once in a lifetime moments/memories are. That's why my initial proposal was I can help you cut down cost on those pre-nuptial shots, and you can get someone else for the AD part.

Dear mods, please help delete/cleanup the posts (particularly the one prior to this).

Caught you! =)

Dont worry! May the best free photographer win!

Regards

Actually I would disagree with phyrewall's advice.

I think pre-wedding shots are harder. You need someone with experience. On top of deciding on location and settling the logistics arangements, the photographer has to make the couple feel comfortable. Otherwise, you will end up with poses that are "forced".

On the other hand, for actual day photography, the photographer is "transparent" most of the time. Except for posed shots, activities will happen. All the photographer has to do is to capture the moment. If there is a desire to save $$$, it would be easier to find a relatively good freelance for AD photography.

Agreed.

But let's not OT this thread - whatever phyrewall posted; let's keep our comments to ourselves, event if you think it's nonsense.

Hi,

I've sent you a PM with services offered, quotations and (a separate PM) on link to the portfolio.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you.

Regards,
Jerry Wong.
