Hi all photographers,

I'm looking for photographer's assistant in covering wedding day Lunch reception and banquet on 6th apr 2014, roughly 12pm to 4pm. You job scope is very simple, all you need is to cover group shots and table shots. You will need to bring your own Camera + Wide angle zoom lens + Flash. Post processing of images needed are just basic white balance, contrast and exposure. Final images needed will be high res JPEG on CD or DVD media. Please PM me your portfolio and contacts for those who are interested.

Thanks in advance!

Please read the following basic requirements. As not many might want to agree with some of my terms, especially paying the security deposit upfront. It is my safe measure for "no-show" or tardiness. Which of course did happened before I implemented this requirement. I do hope you will understand. Please do let me know if you agree or disagree with my terms.

I will require a deposit of S$50.00 upfront from you.

As long as the subjects in the pictures are well lit, well focused and captured in the correct white balance, else no additional or special editing is required.

Your scope of work is very simple, just need to cover the group shots of guest and family during the drinks reception(with or without couple), the typical group table shots, the end of the wedding banquet farewell shots with the guests.

So I expect you to have a wide angle lens and flash head, backup equipments in case your primary equipment should failed you , and be able to command and direct the subjects for the required shots.

1) You can offer any pictures, that you have taken, to the couple.

2) You have to process and deliver the required shots in high-res jpeg.

3) Shots requirements only need to be in right exposure, right focus, correct white balance and lastly subjects need to be posed correctly for the required shots.

Enjoy yourself and you are free to shoot the wedding banquet as long as you fulfill the following conditions during the wedding banquet:

A) Cover your scope of work responsibly.

B) Do not obstruct or distract the main photographer, who is myself.

C) Remember to prioritise your main objectives of your work.

At the end of the day, you are allowed to keep the pictures that you have taken

And most importantly my offer for your service. I will only be able to offer you S$150.00(Start of Reception to the end of wedding banquet)

If unfortunately any mishaps and you are unable to deliver the images later, your deposit will be forfeited and you will have to answer directly to the client.

I'm not a professional photographer or anything, but I have a feeling you are going to get flamed soon.

I worry for the couple...

Highly suspect quality of 2nd shooter with this kind of terms. Hope the couple did not pay too much for their service...

a question in my mind, does this kind of photographer manage to get a 2nd shooter that can comply to the requirement?

Same thoughts as daredevil123.

ya this guy posted before, i wonder who was the sucker who took up this job

Wow even I'm not a professional photographer I feel that $150 for a min 4 hrs job is kind of sad for the 2nd shooter. And with you terms to comply with it make it even sad. Oh sorry I should state it clearly, min 4hrs of shooting at the wedding but didn't calculate the time spend for PP etc...

Dear all, thank you for all your replies and interest.

It was not my intention to cause such a fuss. The reason that I needed the deposit upfront was because, that I had a few encounters with 2nd shooter not turning up or came very late. Especially when I'm the one that will be responsible to answer to the client.

As for the actual job itself, the 2nd shooter is only required to assist me strictly on group photos, and nothing else. And only during the reception, the table group shots and the farewell at the end. Anything in between, it is up to the 2nd shooter if he/she wishes to shoot anything or nothing at all.

The post processing that is needed will only be simple white balance and exposure correction, nothing else is required from the group shots. Which is easily done and not needing any post processing, if you have setup correctly in the camera itself when you are taking the photos.

I hope this clears up any confusion that I have caused. Thanks once again for your time.

No matter what situation arises, to ensure assistants do their duties is still your responsibility, as a main shooter, a employer, in the every account.
You can't push the blame to 2nd shooters if they are not up to the mark. Your customers will not be interested hear this or accept such excuses, that only reflect badly on you.

collecting a deposit, may keep away some causal shooters, but does not make them to have more right attitude to work.

since you are shooting for money, and 2nd shooters are important for you, you should look somewhere else, training somebody systematically, network with other photographers, so you will have a group of quality 2nd shooters that you can rely on.

I think with his budget, very hard for him to retain any sort of talent. Cannot win it all. It has to be a win win situation for all parties involved.
