webby for reviewing camcorders?

I am a total newbie in this area and am looking to get a good consumer camcorder to record my kiddos mainly. Read some info and am totally confused and lost. MiniDV, HDD or DV? Hope to get one that's reasonably good in quality, easy & fast to download, simple editing and easily cut in DVD for viewing on TV. Any recommendations? Any one knows if there's a website that gives good reviews on camcorders and allows side-by-side comparison much like dpreview?
