wats the difference btw pana 14mm n olym 17mm m 4/3

FOVs on both lenses are quite different, hard to compare. But optically the Pana 14mm is better, and it's slightly faster too. Personally I prefer 14mm over 17mm on m4/3.

Since you are using a Pana body, of course go w/ a Pana pancake ;)

Yes absolutely, back in the 135 format/35mm days, a compact camera would often have a 35mm or 40mm lens (equivalent Four-Thirds lens would be 17mm or 20mm, but the 28mm (equivalent 14mm on Four-Thirds) would be considered a wide angle lens.

On Four-Thirds (or smaller sensors), the focal length numbers look so insignificant sometimes, don't they?

I can't imagine how to get a 10mm lens field of view because there isn't such a lens available. The smallest is much more.

thks for ur reply...yes im new to photography...learning the various terms...now deciding wich one to get btw the 2....

I got both. Just get the 14 mm. It's smaller sharper and focuses faster. Enuff said. The only tat u can say for the 17 mm is tat the colors may be better but I can't really see and focusing speed alone is enuff to sway me.
