I don't think that there is any water resistant lens out in the market but there are splash resistant lens. And if you do not have a 1V or 1D then it will not be worth buying it.

The 70-200IS and 16-35 have new weather resistant seals on them. Question is, do you really need it? I think for majority of us, lens performance is what really matters rather than weather sealant. Not saying that its not important though.

Not having a 1V or a 1D is not a good enough reason to avoid these lenses if you have genuine use for them.
