Hi,
I know that a lot of us purchased the KM5D camera during last year Comex show.. from Harvey Norman..
2 days ago I went to Sony Service center to clean my sensor.. and surprisingly they feedback that they do not have any record on my camera and claim that it's out of warranty.

Now I need to dig out my old receipt to show them the warranty.. or I need to check with HN on my warranty record..

I can't recall if the warranty is 2 years or 3 years by default during the purchase at Comex last year..

Thought those 3 years extra warranty is provided by Harvey Norman instead of KM/$ony? Which you can claim it back from HN.

Only heard of before Minolta sold to $ony, they did provide 2 years KM warranty, which should be honoured by $ony.

So all depend on what it's stated in your invoice.

thanks.. so, it's 3 years.. and I need to contact HN instead.
Let me check with them. :)

Think you still be charged for sensor cleaning since HN don't cover such service. They only bothers abt spoilt items under their own warrently. Anyway, it is my guess, hope u don't ended up paying. ;)

I always thought warranty was just a year. Its two? That's news to me! OT a little I sent my 7d to get a servicing defect fixed (when it was last serviced by prev owner). They wanted to charge me the assessment fee even though I was given a waiver THREE times after explaining the circumstances. Ssc does not use technology and doesn't seem to have any process.... Just make sure you get the waivers in writing or a name!
:)

Strange... what time did you go? I bought a 5D during COMEX also and sent my in for the first black frame problem around 8pm.

SSC looked at my warranty card and took the camera. The warranty card should had stated that something like COMEX Promotion warranty extended to 2 years. They didn't really need to check my receipt. However since they wanted to type in my date of purchase as 1st Aug, I showed them my receipt to get so that the correct purchase date can be recorded.

If anything please give them a call.
