Wanted: Budget photographer for birthday dinner Nov 1 2011

Emphasis on budget so expectation is basic competency. Good for student who wants the practice or photog who doesnt mind working on a small budget.
You will be the main shooter although there might be people with phonecams etc. The idea is that you do the work so that I don't have to.
Looking for easygoing personality who can follow directions and accommodate requests from older people. Not for high strung and uptight photogs.

Event: Birthday dinner with abt 150 guests
Venue: Restaurant
Location: Near Orchard Rd but no MRT in the area, have bus and taxi. There's parking if self drive.
Date: Nov 1 2011
Duration: Approx 3 hours 7pm-10pm

Format will be very similar to weddings. Pix at reception b4 dinner, intro speech & doing silly things on stage, cake cutting, table to table during dinner, group shots post dinner and goodbye.

Bring your own equipment. Required minimum gear standard equivalent to 10mp Canon 1000D or better, 17-50/2.8 type lens, and external flash. Bring spare batteries. I won't have any.

Generally, table and small group shots with 8-16 UWA perspective is not acceptable.
Sorry but we cannot proceed if UWA is your only style.

Restaurant layout is main hall and side rooms. Space in the rooms might be tight with one or two tables in the room.
It's up to the photographer's skill in managing and arranging people.

Food: The photog should eat dinner before the assignment. The guest list is packed and there will not be space at a table for the photog unless guests dont show up. It's not my party so I can't request an extra seat for the photog.

Rights to photos - all mine.

Deliverables: JPGs on SDHC. I will provide the SDHC cards. Shoot and hand over the SDs at the end of the event. Unfortunately, I dont have the equipment and the opportunity to sit there to transfer pix from your CF to my PC etc.
Payment will be on the spot. No further follow up necessary.
Photos should have at least 80% hit rate in basic competency (in-focus, well exposed, people looking at camera with eyes open).

Do not post replies in this thread. Please send PM with your rate and links to samples of your work that can be viewed online.
If the expected rate is too high then I'll have to do the work myself instead of eating dinner in peace.

With all these expectations and paying "practice" rates? It will be good to state clearly on your actual "budget".

Dun be surprised if the organiser still manage to get more than 1 applicants though

the law says,
as long photographers being paid, the rights of photos belong to the customers/clients.... So, pay $1 also consider paid, there goes the rights.

CS MCQ

too many "_______________", too little jobs

1. photographers
2. camera man
3. GWC
4. wannabe

Cheap is one thing, make own-self cheap is another.

They will squeeze yur .... Out of you. But at least they state what they want rather thn you surprise yourself. Think of it. You dun have to touch up the photo at all.

Wah donno how big is this "budget"... this guy sounds like a pro... and its not easy to work for a pro in the first place. I rather he shoot the event himself...
