Sony cybershot DSC W1 (5M)
Canon ixus 430/500
Nikon Coolpix 4200/5200

any comments for these three models? Sony w1's 2.5" LCD & memory size video capture mode really attact me, another value added feature is using 2 AA battery which is much more convient n cheap than Li-on battery.

Canon & Nikon are well-known camera brand, I am not sure whether their digital camera tech are strong than Sony, as far as I know some model of Canon's digital cam use Sony's LCD, as to lens, I know really few it.

So any advice?

Sony is strong with its design but usually overpriced and consumer-centric (not pro). W1 is a big break from the cliche where Sony provides lots of pro-functionality. Live histogram, fast start-up, large LCD screen, nightshot are some unique features. The image quality is just above-average.

Choose Canon if you need excellent image quality, no doubt. DiGiC has been proven to provide excellent images and battery life. However, iXUS series have not much features, the only plus factor is the size.

Nikon provides one of the most comprehensive scene modes and their multi-matrix metering ensures proper exposures. But the design is not as impressive as the other 2, and does not have a strong product positioning edge other than the brand. 4200/5200 comes with internal memory so you can take some shots without memory cards.

If you want me to choose one of the above models, W1 is my choice. However, do consider other Canon models, like S60, another 5mp model.
