Hi

I'm considering one of these. Can someone provide your opinion on these lenses' performance? I read they don't come with VF anymore? what brightline(s) will they bring up in M9?

What are the prices of each in black here in Singapore?

Thanks!

Hi Snit. I don't have the 21 or 25mm lens. Pic below is from the 12mm. Vignet's like crazy but see if you can live with the pp cure. Good luck.

they still do. but the option to buy them without the VF is there because the R4 has 21/25 frame lines...

You need to visit THIS site...:devil::lovegrin:

thanks, but there's no mentioned of M9 brightline these lenses will bring up?

Why should it matter? whatever bright line it brings up will still not be the correct brightline. Which at any rate, from what i see, 28 just about fills close to the entire viewfinder.

It does matters to some extent. If I'm not wrong, all Leica lenses 21mm & wider brings up the 28/90 framelines. It doesn't matter in that you can't frame your photo with VF anyway & require an ext VF for analog M, ext VF not so critical for digital M cos can shoot & view then adjust accordingly. However, if you want to use firmware to correct cyan shift vigneting then the lens has to be coded & it must bring up the "correct" framelines (Leica standard),ie coding & framelines must match. Even for exif data to be registered, both framelines & coding must match otherwise, exif of focal length used will not be recorded.
I do not know what framelinesw the M mount version of CV21/25 bring up. For LTM version for use on M8 you'll need 28/90 adapter for 21mm & 35/135 adapter for 25mm (24mm on M8 brings up 24/35 framelines). Hopefully, M mount version of CV21 brings up 28/90 framelines & CV25mm brings up 35/24mm framelines.
Hope this helps.

thanks gommy, this is what I'm looking for, hope chiif or someone who have used it can confirm soon, tx

I don't have M9 yet, but on M6 the 21mm brings out the 28/90 framelines & the 25mm brings out the default 35/135 framelines.

According to the specifications on M9, the framelines are the same as M6. Hence, I would expect the 25mm bring out the 35mm default framelines.

Both are excellent lenses considering the price & the size. But if you want something faster, then, only the Leica (f1.4 & f2.8) & Zeiss (f2.8) have something that's faster... :)

Excellento! Cosina is catering to Leica digital M.:)

wow, zeiss is a monster in size and price! CV is just too sweet! I dun need a fast wide angle lens so I'm leaning towards cv 21 or 25, but my decision is based on brightlines, so I guess 21mm seems like a perfect match, given that I already have a 35mm... is 28 brightline sufficiently good to shoot the 21mm?

Not if you are want 'perfect' framing. Maybe the "whole VF" view of M9 may still be too "small" for 21mm. I'm saying this cos the "whole VF" view of M8 is just right for 21mm (so M8 can shoot with 21mm without ext VF even though widest frameline for M8 is for 24mm lens). But may still be ok for M9 (if you're not too fussy) as the actual picture will cover more than what u see in the VF, so what you want to be included will be included.;) I think the "whole VF" view for M9 may be alright for 25mm.
Aiya, when you get your M9, go look for chiif & test the lenses out & see what you are comfortable with. Problem solved!:bsmilie:
