Vivitar Lenses

An old friend (old-time Minolta user) suggest I oso look at Vivitar lenses, but I noticed there's not much mention of them in this forum... Anyone using them here?

Where can we get Vivitar lenses here in sg?

As what i have found out too is that Viivitar Series 1 lens are actually great lens too.
They are one fo those third party options that one could look out for. Well here in CS...
You mainly can see that ppl go for brands like Tokina,Sigma,Tamron as the main bulk of the 3rd party brands...well most likely due to the availability in shops here in Singapore.

Visitar may be rare these days as they may not be producing new lens due to the already saturated markets. Even Cosina (another third Party options offering WYPISWYG lower cost alternatives) may be hard to find at times.

So far i have seen Vivitar in "old"new condition in places that may still have old stocks like Mustafa Center.

thanks for your insight sulhan! my friend prefers his vivitar lenses (from his old slr days) to his sigmas/tamrons so he suggested if i can find mebbe worth exploring. he said that tokina oso underrated but oso good. a colleague says tokina got ex-nikon engineers?

hmmm, mebbe a trip down to musta is in order, thanks thanks!

No point ..... old Vivtar lenses are good, but the newer lenses are just rebrand of those third party OEM lenses.

Goto Hong Kong, Some shops there still keep the old series 1 lenses.
The box is no more white already yellwoish :bsmilie:

I saw some very old lenses in china town area before, so old, i got no idea at all, i think i also saw the vivitar brands..
