Vietnam - The bright side of life

During my days in Vietnam i visited schools, villages and orphanages. This is a quick video highlights of what i've seen and experienced. Bringing smiles to the children's faces does really change my perspective of vietnam. They live with what they have and enjoyed everything and everyone around them. That is what i call living your life to the fullest.

- The first place is at Long Hoa Co orphanage, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Our visit brought with us a number of consumable goods, which will be used to feed the residents that call the orphanage their home. The donated necessities were raised through means of fund raising, which was conducted by the SP Team, as well as through various charitable organizations and individuals. We brought along 1.5 tonnes of rice, as well as 60 boxes of noodles.

We then spent the whole day playing games and activities with the kids, they are surprisingly good at soccer! Also, we did a photo taking session with all the kids and gave them the photos with the frame as a gift.

- The second place is at a fishing village along the border of South Vietnam that draws the line between Cambodia and Vietnam. A particular group of people called the Champas reside in this village and mainly fish for a living.

Visiting the village allowed us to take a look and capture images on the type of infrastructure in the fishing village, cultural values and traditional trade businesses that the fishing villagers engage in.

- The third place is at Trường Tiểu Học Pháo Đài, Hà Tiên, West of Vietnam. A remote school with mainly primary school students. Even though it's quite far from the major cities, they learned english. I was surprised when some actually spoke in english! We spent half a day with them and had fun with those hyperactive kids. Before we headed off, we gave each student a Stationary package to aid in their education studies. A lot of them were surprised and happy to receive what we have gave them.

I am still editing a documentary style video of this trip so do look forward to it!

Thanks for sharing. Wonderful video.

For your longer documentary, you might want revisit your exposure. Most scenes in your video is around 0.5 to 0.7 stops underexposed. Might be your monitor.

Thanks DD. Yeah seems underexposed when i viewed from my Desktop monitor. I used a Mac to edit, probably the contrast glossy screen that makes my preview edit looks brighter. Will adjust!

Great video editing! Love the energy of your shots. What stabiliser did you use?

Thanks Rodney! Was using a glidecam for most of the shots. Some were handheld. A lot of the Vietnamese kids were spontaneous and likes being chased around. Playing "catching" with them with a glidecam is very tiring!

Sgdevilzz>>> Great video. I love the energy that the kids display. You managed to capture it the best possible way that I could think of. Great Job!!

You can use Fast Color Corrector to tweak your exposure. I always use that to "fix" my underexposed footages.

Keep your videos coming in! :)

Thanks Daniyal! It's easy to make kids smile and laugh, just try speaking in their language. They often find it funny, not sure why!
