I was considering whether to apply ADFP course in Ngee Ann. After thinking for some time, I decided not to go into video/filmmaking fulltime yet. Will continue status quo (engineering job fulltime & wedding video parttime).

As a parttimer, I only want to take 1 wedding (the most 2 jobs) per month. So, I am currently rejecting many enquiries from potential clients. A waste and also not projecting a professional image. As a part-timer, i feel that many customers (especially middle to higher end) already filter you out.

I'm dreaming to have a few other videographers/editors willing to work as part of the Jan Ray Creations team. We shall have similar style and standards and of course we will adopt a common rate and package. I'm not sure how we can partner so if you have ideas pls feel free to throw at me. Ideally, they include a few full-timers so that it'll make more sense to advertise online or in magazines. Why Jan Ray Creations ? Because somehow it has quite good ranking in search engines for local wedding videography. And it is relatively new so we can build it up from here. You might as well do it alone ? Yes, true but it's better to work in a team where we can back each other up and also with equipment backup. Can also share the few thousands annually just to advertise in bridal forum and magazines. If volume high, can even share employing a graphics designer for all the non-video editing work. In 2 yrs time, I may even turn my 5-rm flat into office/studio. (now it'e rented out:) )

If someone is interested to explore doing a wedding and events business, it's possible that I invest in $$ for the equipment and we do it together.....but I can only part-time jagah.

If interested, pls contact me at jangoh@janraycreations.com.

Just to clarify something I received in PM.

My idea is not for the partner videographers to be anonymous worker. JRC will have different videographers each with their own portfolio. Their work, good or not, would be reflected in their individual portfolio. In fact, it can be that they will pocket all their earnings but pay a certain sum monthly for the shared overheads. Or it can be they prefer to be salaried and get basic plus commission from projects they did.

Or to make it simpler one step at a time, if there are people who can accept the rates that I charge, and able to produce the same kind of work that I deliver, and willing to consider themselves part of JRC (but their own portfolio & reputation to uphold), then I dun mind passing the project to them (with a small commission) ...instead of telling potential clients "sorry we're not available".

Anyway, just something to think about. :)

Hi,

Mindzest here. I've been in the industry for quite some time and don't mind synergising or making new contact. I can be contacted at mindzest @yahoo.com. See you.
