A good option is to buy a macro lens for a "normal" video camera. You can check out the Raynox lenses in the buy and sell forums. look for Jim, McGill, he is the local seller for these.
BTW, when you shoot really close up, you will need a tripod for sure, cos the depth of field is very very shallow.

Not looking to use it for professional/work related stuff. More for recording nature shots when still pictures can't really tell the story. Also looking more at a digital camcorder with a budget of no more than 1k. Possible to get one?
