Vertical Gripes

Hey there,

For those of you with vertical grips, do you use AA batteries or CR2/CR123/etc? In your opinion, which lasts longer?

I'm using a Dynax 7, well-known to be a battery guzzler. Anyone heard of rechargeable CR123s ?

i am using cr123, reason :

1: AA batteries don't last long
2: 4 *AA batteries = heavy , cr123 lighter, only 2 batteries needed.

I never heard of recharagable CR123 battery.

any place that sells it cheaper

haven't bought that in a loooong time ...
but that's what powers my newly-bought Dynax 5

Check out sim lim towers basement - there is a shop selling mainly batteries....their price is good!!

Cant remember the shop name...but take escalator down and you will see this shop - normally salesperson a lady - auntie...

err... the Dynax 5 uses CR2 batteries. The Dynax 7 uses CR123.

Are you sure you bought the right camera?

double AA baterrei is usefull when u go travelling specially to 3rd world country which u diff to buy CR123...

i usually use the camera battries.... use VC battrei when taking whole day photo shoot...

Not enough batteries for the day ....if you use AA in your vertical greip....you can steal some from your flash!!!!!

The Dynax 7 is a well-known battery guzzler? That's new to me.

How many rolls of film to exhaust one set of batteries? How do you use the camera? Do you use a lot of built-in flash. What lens do you use?

But to answer your question, I use CR123A. The AA batteries feel too heavy.

i may not be a Minolta user, but i think photo lithium batteries definately last longer than ordinary AA batteries. i use CR123A batteries for the vertical grip of my EOS 30.

I don't think the 7 is a battery guzzler. I'm not using the VC grip and it lasts more than 25 rolls with the CR123s with occasional use of the built in flash. The cameras which use CR2s are worse in this area.

i managed about 10 rolls, mostly without any flash before the Panasonic CR123As died.

ya, mine also around that, I can shoot around 20 rolls before battey died.

One recommendation for cheap CR123 lithium battery.

Try Sing Arms in China town shophouses. Only $3 a piece.

dynax 5 dun have button... only the 7 and 9's have... and a vertical gripe is a complaint about your superior or subordinates... hehehehe...

Vertical Grips are attachments added to your existing camers body to allow you to comfortably hold your camera for portraiture composed shots.

Most Vertical Grips usually allow you to use AA batteries as an alternate power source and only come with a shutter release button. Whereas some feature knobs and dials to access the camera's functions as you compose your shots.

It's a nice to have, but not must have item to complement your camera.
