Valuebasket- not worth the hassle

Hi all,

I see Valuebasket advertising a lot on CS and just want to share my experience:

I purchased a flash from them on Ebay. It was the worst buying experience in my 14 years of using Ebay, and that's saying a lot. Issues were:

1. They take forever to ship. To be fair, they warn you they will take a long time in their posting and I have to give them credit, they hold true to their warning

2. When you contact them to ask about your item, you always get nice, sweet answers, "Someone is looking into it", "Be sure we are addressing your concerns" and so on. But nothing ever happens

3. They use an incompetent delivery company (Toll Global Express) for delivery. I don't know if anyone has used them before but basically every experience I have had with these guys involves spending a lot of time talking/shouting at them on the phone and waiting for scheduled deliveries that never come. Their tag line should "Eventually it gets delivered". They're probably the cheapest, and there is a good reason for that

So, Valuebasket prices may be relatively cheap, but in my opinion you can get as good deals from other ebay/internet sellers without all this hassle.

The advertising is pushed by google ads. They did not directly advertise on ClubSNAP. fyi so you know.

I'm very unhappy to learn about your experience. There has been many threads in Clubsnap about the service as to be expected from value market, did u read them ?

Doing a simple google search would give a lot of user comments too.

For value market , the thing is that cheaper it may be, but as u have experienced , one has to be willing to push them towards the cliff's edge coming to getting your stuff delivered.

Read the threads and comments, after the fact. I'm a heavy ebay user and have gotten used to pretty good service from ebay sellers, contrary to what many people may expect. Also bought many times from "discount" ebay sellers from HK (dzone, e-infinity etc.) and also locally from ddelectronics but never had a problem this bad before. In fact, most of these sellers are incredibly good, attractive pricing, fast shipping, good customer service.

In this case its a combination of the seller and the delivery company. Toll Global Express is a horrendous delivery company, no idea how come they are still around. Not that I could choose the delivery service but if you check internet comments about Toll it's consistently, incredibly bad. I've not received the flash yet by the way. They are supposed to try and deliver again today but it's near the end of their official hours and no sign of them yet. Should have just paid the extra $$ and got the flash locally 2 months ago. Ah well.....

Final outcome, never received the item. Paypal found in my favor and processed a refund.
