Upgrade your M9 to M9-P at Leica Camera Asia Pacific


This is the official press release on the Leica Camera Asia Pacific reveals newly renovated Customer Care Centre.



Singapore. Leica Camera Asia Pacific reveals new and improved Leica Customer Care Centre at the International Building, Orchard Road.

Managing Director of Leica Camera Asia Pacific, Sunil Kaul explains, “It has always been our goal to deliver customer care beyond the expectations of our proud customers and brand aficionados at Leica, we aspire to create the finest photographic and viewing equipment. We take extra time and effort in designing and crafting these products not only because our audience anticipates the finest, but they expect the extraordinary.”

The newly improved Customer Care Centre is now equipped with new Leica Rangefinder and sensor calibration machine for the M digital cameras. The new equipment carries out adjustment and calibration checks, in particular, it confirms and aligns sensor flatness. These services are previously conducted only in the Leica Customer Care Centre back in Solms, Germany.

Mr. Kaul states, “With the launch of the new service centre, we are now equipped with the latest state-of the art Leica tools that will assist to repair most of the products in Singapore through our highly qualified product specialists. In addition to investing in tools and machines, we have also invested in people and training so that we can deliver top class service to our customers.”

The arrival of the new machines in Singapore will shorten the waiting period for servicing substantially for M-camera users as basic servicing needs can now be conducted in Singapore. The waiting period for servicing will now take at least 7 working days and is subjected to parts availability from the factory.

Gerald Wagner, Customer Care Manager of Leica Camera AG says, “Leica factory technicians have a profound understanding of every last detail of every Leica ever made. I’m happy to support Singapore’s servicing needs and I’m glad to witness the service expansion here.”

The Leica Customer Care team has also expanded to a 4-person team. Leica Camera Asia Pacific’s chief Leica technician, Mr Andrew Chan is now joined with new technician, Mr Ser Lay Ghee on board. Andrew has in-depth experience of over 30 years in photographic equipment, while Lay Ghee, brings along 20 years of experience in technical servicing. Ms Juliana Yeo and Ms Adeline Lau to represents the Leica Customer Care Centre as main contact persons for Customer Care enquiries.
 

No mention of a possible M9 to M9-P upgrade in the press release. Wonder if it was just an assumption on VR-zone's part...
 

Wow good news for those who wants to upgrade to M9P but cant bear the excruciating long wait in the past.
 

They can now do more repairs including LCD replacement (in case you have dead dots or bright spots).

And they clean the CCD sensors very well!

i checked with Leica : yes, the newly renovated customer care centre will be able do the M9 -> M9P upgrade. :thumbsup:

Good news indeed, probably will go for it in a year's time when the warranty is almost up.
 

Has anyone tried doing sensor cleaning or other forms of servicing with them?
or anyone done M9-M9P upgrade? I also wonder if it is possible to choose chrome or black top base plate during the upgrade.
