Hi,

Anyone know how much it will cost me to upgrade to a 2nd hand Dynax 7 from a 505si? I want to do a trade-in kind of upgrade. I think someone mentioned that Alex Photo had a Dynax 7 for sale right? Is it still there and what's the price like? I am rather hopeful for a $500-600 top-up, if that is feasible. I think that thing (body only) still costs about $1200 brand new right? And the body is all I am after.

Actually I am changing for the really useful vertical grip and faster AF and maybe better interface. Find it a little difficult to change settings on the 505si at the moment. Cos only got one wheel. Gives me a good excuse to get a larger flash also...........:D

oo. guess my eyes are giving way.

TME ,

i don't think 505si worth more than $150. it is an old model which is replaced by Dynax 5.

I had 70-300mm, 3500xi, 28-80mm, I sold them off at very cheap price, I sold 3500xi and 28-80 mm for $120 only.70-300mm at $200.

Why I tell you this?? Hmm, coz it is good to have a backup body, you won't know when u need them. I still have 505si but I am not selling it.

BTW, are you schooling?

Teachers are employed by MOE but have undergo training at NIE first!

I also have a 505si body and am thinking of upgrading to a Dynax 7. However, there seems to be no second hand market for the Dynax 7....maybe it is still a very new camera? :(

Asked Cathay, cost $1330 without lens. :(

Hi TME,

Yo would probably like to check Alex photo - i saw that there is a dynax 7 + grip.

If you have any previous lens, bring it along to test.
If can, Check the number of Rolls that is camera have been used o (provided user did not erase).......

You can do the following......Behind the cover ....open up this little door (horizontal 1 cm wide door - where all the function keys are located).

Press the "Data" button (extreme left button among this string of buttons).

You should see something like this....

dn1-xxxx where xxxx denotes the number of rolls shot on this camera body.

e.g : (This is only a guide - not 100% true)
if it says dn1-0345 means it have been used (aproximately) on 345 rolls

if it says dn1-0020 means it have been used (aproximately) on 20 rolls (you probably want to corelate to the body if it shows any signs of bad scartch or "overused" grip which may implies that user may have reset the roll counter.

So the price should not go that high for a "high count" camera.....or worn-by-its-looks.

Hope this helps....

It can be pretty far off. My counter shows DN3-0166, but I have taken only some 120 rolls.

The reason is because the camera gave me a "Film load error" and I need to reload it. I'm not very good at loading film, even though it is about as simple as it can get. :D

Me also - for other cameras other than my own lah! :D I once ruined a good roll of film in a F-80 body cos I didn't load the film to the red line. The camera simplty continued feeding the improperly inserted film tape and when I opened up the back cover, what greeted me was a load of unwound film!! So angry! Wasted one roll of perfectly good film! At least Minolta won't feed if it detects the film didn't seat porperly on the film guides.

Hi Nyhone,

It could be that you do a mid roll unload and reload, change film or things like that, as i mention, it may give a feel of the roll number.... Imaginde you see....dn1-9443 ?%#%&

and he asked 1100 for it???

get me?...

Thanks for the tip. But how much will the camera cost? What is the price range I am looking at. I think my 505si no hope of trading in lah! :(

Hieee.....

I think its advisable to go there first, check the camera. Open the film compartment. See if the film rails (parallel silvery part above and below the shutter) sow any wearing or bad film deposit.

Use these factors to justify as weak points to bring the price lower. Check the Flash contact, if not shiny oso can use it as reason. See the lens mount - check if its really worn with lots of rub/sratch marks.....

I think he weould probably ask for somewhere 900 to 1100......bargain bargain bargain.....if he don't wanna move get out of the shop.

Come back another day later and qoute a lower price - mabbe say the Price of the 800si brand new is very cheap and you may get the 800si 1st hand instead.....of the 2nd Hand.....

I'm sure if you are a serious buyer.......he will try to accept your price......remember, any price 2nd hand shop qoute is 2x the price thay got from previous owner........

Try putting your 505si as a trade in...

juz a thought

me

loading of film can be very tricky. here's my step:

1: don't use the red sticker as a guide.
2: use your finger, turn the right roller manually untill the tiny pop-out plastic is facing you.
3: when loading the film, make sure the 1st or 2nd hole is inside the tiny pop-out plastic.
4: close the cover.

It aways work.

Hope this help.
