I know some of u nvr send in yr warranty card.
I have something to ask. If you buy a DC and nvr fill up the warranty card. After a year, is it still valid? Can you use it to make a repair if something happens to yr DC a year after yr purchase? :dunno:

After 1 year? Nope, its probably impossible (assuming your electronics have 12mth warranty.)

If not, i will bring my 6 year old damaged TV set to the manufacturer liao. The warranty isnt filled up yet too! ;p
Firms are clever nowadays. :)

Good Luck!

is it wise to buy a 2nd hand DC from someone when the warranty is over and he nvr filled the card...? coz i'm scared that the dc gets spoilt and i waste my $$$. :(

Oh well, thats the risk involved in buying second hand products. You go decide the risks vs savings part.

Just be careful in checking in the items. I buy and sell second hand equipments with peers in ClubSnap, never had a problem had a problem. :)

sometimes its working when u buy it but then after a while, it spoils or the inherent problem starts to surface.... When u buy DC, how do you check it? Just take pictures? Do you download to pc and view the images. By the way, have u bought stuff that dun have warranty and turned out spoilt?

so can i say tat with unfill warranty and receipt (proof of purchase) is safe?

For me, so far, i have'nt got any second hand stuff that fail on me. *touchwood*

Again, its the risk factor of second hand products. For a DC, there are lots of things to check. Better to bring a experienced friend with you.

Things like...
1) lens
2) functionality of different modes
3) shutter and aperture blades (whether the shutter is really 1s, whether it got stuck etc)
4) and the battery compartments..
5) pixels and lcd.
6) and the list goes on and on and on...

When i got my F80, i requested help and many Clubsnappers offered to help me out. Post a request sincerely and im sure people will want to help you out.

ehh wad happens if i get the cam as a gift without reciept?

I never filled by canon warranty, but the shop that sold me updated canon without me knowing.

So one day when I wanted to service the cam, I asked them the warranty status of my cam, they told me it was over. (It was 1 yr 2 mths old then)

So buying 2nd hand cam with unfilled warranty DOES NOT mean that the warranty is still valid. The companies have a way to find out or the shops selling them are just too honest
