I am in the market for a bulk film loader (I am a newbie so please bear with my questions) MS Colour have quoted me about $80 for a Konica. Went to ebay and they have Watson's bulk loaders going for US$5.00. They have a different shape from the Konica which is rectangular. My question is, can anyone let me know if the loading mechanisms are all the same for the different brands? US$5.00 is a bargain!

Oh yeah, some of them say that they can be loaded in daylight whilst some others in darkrooms/bags.

Many thanks.

I'm not familar with the Konica, but the Watson is a breeze to use! I used mine for cose to 20 years with no problems ... then I switched to digital.

At USD$5, plus...what...$10-$15 Courier, it IS worth it!

However, be sure to ask to look for pictures of the film loading gate / film holder drum, inside and out (for scratches), and for the state of the crank gears.

These are the potential problem areas.

can't remember what brand mine is ( i think AP )
but for S$80 ( or was it 65.00 )( i'm not getting old )
( have always been forgetful :)

Mine came with 20 reloadable plastic 135 cartridge
so that makes it quite worthwhile ?
also get free lesson from nice lady at Ruby on how
to properly load the bulk roll in
how to use etc

I am not sure if there is any model of bulk loaders that allow you to work in 100% daylight. You always have to load the bulk roll into the roller in total darkness, ie in a changing bag, then you can load the cassettes in daylight. Not difficult once you get the hang of it.

I have the same AP one from Ruby.
