Hi guys,
I am very new to film photography and would like to try out, but would like to buy a simple SLR cam body (that allows me to shoot in aperture mode) preferably. I do have a Yashica ML 50mm f1.4 which I love very much pairing it with my 5DMKII. So hopefully this SLR body can allows me to use back this lens.

Any recommendation for me?

:)

i do not have much experience with
film SLR but I believe the king of
Aperture Priority SLR is the Olympus
OM system.

I thought of OM too (like their lenses too! but I dun have any now after selling the 50mm f1.4) ... but research found that, its hard to find C/Y -> OM convertor... so I guess I can only stick to contax film cameras haha

get contax RTS and zeiss lenses

I m using the Nikon F3 n FE2 as a 2nd body, all Nikon lens r backward compatible. U may want to consider Nikon if you currently do not ofhave too much Canon gears. These 2 Nikon have AV mode too.
I have pretty much given up on dslr.

haha i got too much canon gears now... not looking at switching system but to look at trying out film cameras for fun...

i really loved this Yashica ML 50mm f1.4, so hopefully can find a film body to try it out with. :)

why not getting canon EF film camera?

welcome to film photography~ :o

Get a super cheap Canon EF film body. I got mine (EOS 300) for $8 from Japan (:

yeah, that is probably what I am going to do if I cannot find other suitable contaxt cameras :p

You might want to try and look at Cash Converter for old EOS film cameras. :)

I saw a EOS 500N, EOS 888 at AMK's.
Hehe..

Or maybe hunt in CS, im sure theres someone out there selling theirs.
Cheers

I would suggest that this is the only thing you do! Using the same system allows sharing of lens, and that means you can bring both the digital and film bodies out and share the same set of lens between the two. It totally doesn't make sense to try to lug around two different 135 systems in the same bag! Better utilization also means that its more worthwhile to invest in better lens.

The EOS 5 is a very nice camera, cheap, light weight, and has very fast shutter response time. Otherwise any of the EOS 1, 1n, and 3 are all great choices at affordable prices. The 1v is of course the bestest of them all, but its also the most expensive.

If you already have a Canon system, just stick with it. Other than novelty, there's zero value add with switching systems, or duplicating your setup with other brands.

yup I agree with you.

currently I am already using this Yashica ML 50mm f1.4 lens with an adaptor on my 5DMKII.

But reason for not considering EOS SLR yet cos I wish to pair this beautiful lens with a Yashica film body to try out (I have no experience with old SLR camera system hence take this opportunity to try).

I will not really be using this Yashica body for work purpose, rather leisure, most probably shooting my gf, street shoots :D

Anyway I done some research... looks like Yashica FR-I or Yashica FX-3 2000 Super suits my requirement. :)

by the way I am exploring Contax 167MT, anyone got experience in this body?

i got a spare contax rx to let go. let me know if u want to give it a trial run for a roll and see whether u like it or not.

Why not jump straight to mf? Trying to feed some poison here :)
