Has anyone trying pushing Tri-X 400 to 1600? How is the outcome?

try it with HC-110.
film base fogging is still acceptable but be careful with the exposure.
esp the shadows.

anyway, you can probably find more results @ photo.net
:)

Try it with a push developer. I used T-Max developer with Tri-X 400 pushed to 3200. Negatives come back thin, some images came out fine, but all of them suffered a loss in shadow detail. So beware...

yup yup...i agree...there's a significant loss in details as well as the image turned out rather thin.

If you have to shoot at conditions which warrants iso1600, better should with dedicated 1600 films like the neopan.

try rangefinderforums, alot of the users are playing with tri-x. there was even a guy who pushed it to 12,800 EI

Neopan's good stuff.

but Im not really confident of the availability of it in singapore now.
Fujifilm doesn't seems that keen to bring it in & they've already announced to stop production in bulk roll in next March. (35mms will still be available)

Oh yes! And very surprisingly, he processed it in Rodinal, and it came out beautifully!

Amazing!

Try Diafine ;) Seems like a popular combination with Tri-X 400 @ 1600. Results are pretty good. This is one such shot from this combo ...

I don't think you can find Diafine in Singapore. If you do, I'm interested to know where you can get it... :D

Thats a really sweet picture you got there

Thanks for all the response. This forum is really great..

The reason I asked was I am finding it difficult to get hold of 1600 films but have a few Tri-X 400. Have also read from rangefinderforum and understand the results are actually quite ok.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of neopan in Singapore as suggested by nonchann?

Konota has lots of Neopan.

I normally shoot @ ISO1600 and process it with Ilford DD-X. You can get those at Ruby (Peninsula Hotel)

Got mine from Adorama, they ship to Singapore (unlike B&H).

just wondering if anyone has done tri-x @ 1600 with stand development.

I have tried tri-x @ 1600 and process using stand development.

Used hc-110 agitate for 20 secs at first then stand for half an hour. Done at singapore's room temperature too (no need for ice to get 25 degrees).

Results wise, lesser grain then normal development. Pictures will be more "white and black". The forum in traditional darkroom will have more experience. I got the developing timings from there too.

Cheers

Do you mind to share the developing details (dilution, temperature, agitation, developing time) for Tri-X 400 @ 1600 with Diafine combo? I would really appreciate it if you can share it here.

Been buying some Neopan 1600 at Konota this month, and they still have a lot today when I went back for replenishments ...

Not sure yet, but I think I agree with reviews that Neopan 1600 lacks shadow detail, but I don't care so much and still like it for its "film noire" look, and it does its job in allowing me to get the main subject and message in really low light.
