Travelling Overseas - Photolab database.

Being a person who is blessed with the opportunity to travel around overseas often, I find myself in a constant need of a photo finishing shop in the country of which I am visiting - especially if you need to process film or stock up. My search for good photolabs around the places I visit have inspired me to start a database of them for fellow photographers who share the same need. Because there are countless travel destinations around the world, I would request that members adopt a wiki mindset and contribute to this database by listing the photolabs you have used overseas and providing any information that is deemed useful. With the help of other members of the forum, I hope that this database can be a reliable source of information for travelling photographers. Enough ranting and I shall begin:

Comments:

My experience with Saigon Photo (Main Outlet) was excellent. The staff seemed professional and tried to accommodate my needs. I had a flight later that evening and they rushed to get my film processed so they could be ready in the same afternoon at no extra cost. Upon collection, the staff allowed me to use the lightbox to check for developing errors before I left for the airport. They also house their films in a fridge which is assuring, especially if you are looking for consistency.

Sticky this please

SUper like!

a quick question, any recommendations for Johore ?

thanks

Great idea. Love it. I'll contribute when I travel. I don't have specific names. But most camera stores in Sirkeci in Istanbul sell film. All kinds. And i think they can help point you in the direction of a shop doing developing

Thanks oceanpriest for contributing, we need more people like you in order for the database to grow. Just a question though, have you used these labs yourself? On a side note, I am currently compiling the list of shops in hongkong now. I have their details but not their prices - now where did I jot those down?

Lordpain, i have used only one lab in Bandung (Chandra Photo), so far good enough for me. Among other labs, based on testimonies gathered, Master Foto Surabaya seems to be one of the best. From what I know, all labs in Indonesia don't do E6, mostly only C41 (both 120 and 135), few can do black and white. Sorry, I couldn't get their developing/scanning price, most lab will charge roughly about 25000 IDR (~3.2 SGD) for develop+low resolution scan+cd

for film and darkroom supplies:

Jakarta
1. Capa Store
Metro Atom Plaza Lt. 2
BKS 45 Tel: (021) 3523953, AKS 43 Tel: (021) 3502170
BKS 14 Tel: (021) 3814169
Jalan Pasar Baru No. 101, Sawah Besar
Jakarta Pusat

there few other shops at Pasar Baru, mostly selling old camera stuffs and films

Bandung
1. Kamal Photo
Jalan Braga No. 91-93
Bandung
Tel: (022) 4234326
4sq: https://foursquare.com/v/kamal-photography--toko-peralatan-fotografi/4e4219d37d8bec1e4d13fcfb

Most of these shops only sell consumer films such as Fuji Superia, Kodak Gold, Lucky SHD, but you can still find TMax, Tri-X, Delta in some shops. Ektar, Portra, and slides films are almost impossible to find there.
