Tokina ATX Pro SV 28-70 F2.8 for only $475!!

Amazing price that i saw advertised for sale!! cheaper than the first hand version of the 28-70 F2.8 ATX-PRO II and a number of second hand ATX-PRO IIs.

now the question is...how does THIS lens compare to the ATX-PRO II? can we assume that because its a later version it must be at least as good as, if not better, than the ATX PRO II?

Any one has comments?

its sold in the US for under US$300. eg: bhphoto - $279, so S$475 isn't such a big deal. Hong Kong can probably get cheaper

reading between the lines in the tokina website, it implies that this lens lacks low dispersion elements (like in L lens) that the Tokina 28-80 f/2.8 has.

this lens is meant for the budget conscious customer, sv stands for super value. Checking both specs of the lens (sv vs pro II), both seems same. Of course, the glass used inside might be different, like erwinx said.

no need to choose. get the tokina.

unless you will be keeping the lens and not selling it, then any is equally good. i recommended tokina for its resale value.

F2.8 constant for this price looks really good...

Bought my Tokina 28-80 F2.8 last year for $790 just for my niece wedding. Condition is mint as I have used it only twice and of course has the hood and the bag.

Am willing to part if your offer is right (as I have no good knowledge of the second hand market> Please PM me.
