Can't read japanese but can this be used with a Nikon D40/40x? Does it comes with built-in motor?

Looking for a small macro lens and the only one available with motor is the Nikon 105 macro which is too big and too ex.

That's the problem with D40 and D40X, as they can only AF with AFS lenses. Otherwise get a 60mm macro and shoot under M or A mode and adjust aperture and focus manually. Not sure whether the Tokina 35mm macro can AF with D40 series bodies. Anyone can read Japanese?

I don't think so. Tokina do not build lenses with built-in focus motor... unless, this is gonna be their first.

I thought Tokina produce lenses for Canon and those come with built-in motor right? So if they can do it for Canon then why not Nikon?

why do you need AF for Macro shots?
the details are so small that the sensors cannot focus on it.

MF is the way to go for precision focusing
or move camera forward/backward focusing

Actually this is not for me. I dun do macro. More for my wife. She'll put it to macro mode and begin shooting happily so AF matters in this case. She'll give me this  look if I tell her to do manual focus. :bsmilie:

Finally got my hands on a unit of 35mm macro (nikon mount). Works like a charm. AF is noisy and slow, but focusing is smooth. Images are sharp, contrasty, nice shallow depth of field. At full extension, the f stop can be pushed smaller to 36. Very short working distance of 2cm at full extension, would require off body flash to reach in.

At last, a 55mm macro equivalent at DX.

show us some photos!

Can someone please tell me what is the advantage of 35mm with Macro?? Thank you.
