sigma has an advantage on the wide end.. extra 2mm more. big difference if you like the UWA effect.

however, had bad experience with sigma after sales service before. so i'm avoiding anything sigma.

if you ask me, better go for tokina. :)

Seem like Sigma have strong distortion with straight lines falling towards the center.

Actually, I think that one because of vertical perspective.

Funnily enough, the Sigma only has like, corner distortion at the sides:

And just fyi, there are two versions, both are EX DC, but there is a non-HSM version for certain mounts available, like Pentax, I'm a little confused whether there is even HSM version for Pentax but mine is the non-HSM one, but who cares hahaha.

Sigma design the distortion handling on their UWAs quite well. The Sigma 12-24 (FF-capable lens) is excellent testimony to that. The 10-20 is not bad too, as the distortions are not unmanageable.

I went with the Sigma 10-20mm because of the wider view.

Test shot at the shop.

wow. looks like 10 and 12 do make a world of a difference. 12-24 still an advantage cos of its constant aperture. but i suppose image qual and distortion almost identical. after all 12 and 10mm are different focals lengths, so not comparable.
if u have time pls post a pic of both lenses at 12mm or any other same focal length so i can see the diff. would be a great help
thanks in advance

You can test it at the shop if you intend to buy it as I can't help you there as I've already bought the Sigma 10-20mm.

Like many people have mentioned in other forums, Kenrockwell comments that the Sigma is not well built is not true.

its still more or less the same... $850+/-, lens price doesn't drop like camera...

just checked, it now costs only abt $730 (to about 790)
also thinking abt buying that lens, but i heard that the 2mm for the sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6 makes a gigantic difference
