I was on vpost website and i noticed they are linked up to Amazon.

Is it lower cost to buy from Amazon USA or from Local Retailers?

Anyone of the senior CS done purchases from Amazon?

I am not senior CS. But i've done multiple purchases with Amazon and have never been disappointed. Only once the delivery did not arrive per schedule and they gave me a full refund on my credit card. However, all my amazon purchases were delivered to the hotel i stayed in when i went to states, never tried Vpost Globeshopper or the citibank thingy.

My advice is amazon is no problem, check the other carriers what insurance they offer in event of misplaced items or damaged upon delivery. Don't just pick the cheapest one. I've ordered Watches, lenses, Hifis etc all on Amazon. No problems at all.

if the item you buy is high cost need to pay tax one + Vpost also got earn. I find it cheaper to see of there are other merchants who will send direct rather then need 3rd party. Ebay is also fine for low - mid cost items.

Not worth it because of the high shipping cost via VPost. If you have friends in USA on business trips, ask them to help you buy via Adorama and bring it back. Delivery is free within United States.

Amazon packing is superb so far. No experience with damaged goods. But if you upon opening box discover damaged, i believe with some photos and contact them thru live chat they will refund or replace no questions asked.

do u need to return the faulty goods?

Amazon does not ship to singapore DIRECTLY if i remember correctly. Thats why we need to use vpost. The cost for shipment(vpost) is stated on the vpost website. when calculating the total cost of products, please include gst(if more than $400), cost of shipment to vpostusa, cost of shipment to vpostsingapore and last but not least the exchange rate.

Amazon does not ship to singapore DIRECTLY....

YES THEY DO!!! Ordered from them tons of times!!

However some items are not deliverable outside the US. Such conditions are stated clearly on the pages of each item. For such items, can consider using vPost. But vPost has prohibited items like camera batteries, etc which they won't ship. Check their website for details.

nope. i bought some mouse from amazon and 1 happened to be faulty, emailed them and no question asked as long as u explain ur situation clearly to them.

i used borderlinx for the shipping to sinagapore, cheap, fast and good. definately better than vpost.

I have done many purchases from Amazon, Monorpice etc. and shiped from US to Singapore using BorderLinx (you should have a citibank card), i have got my Canon HF100 camcorder from amazon before a month, now purchased Canon 450D + Canon 55-250mm IS from amazon as my frnd is coming here he is brining it.

My advise is to user BorderLInx service is good, it takes just 4 to 5 days (powered by DHL) to reach from US to SG in standard shipping, my frnds told vPost takes 2 to 3 weeks.. so my pref. is www.borderlinx.com

cheers,
ranjith

btw, borderlinx is only opened to citibank card holders.

Borderlinx is extremely fast in shipping and goods usually arrive in 4-5 days' time. However, Amazon's delivery service is pretty fast too. I had bought from Amazon a couple of times and was satisfied with their delivery time. I will not bother with vPost unless buying stuff from Japan.

What abt paying tax?

everything will be calculated when u "check out" ur parcels, it will be in ur final shipping costs. there will be a line which says tax and that is the amount of GST u are paying.

but this service is for citibank card holders only. i might be ordering some stuff from amazon, u can tag along with my parcels if u like. ;)

Aiya...should have know this earlier....
