how do i add timestamp to video recorded from a DV camera after i have transfer it to my computer.....

what software do i need?

I m taking home videos of my kids, and would like a small time stamp on the video when i covert it to say DVD....

sorry for a newbie question... really new into video.....

Are you talking about some text that appears once in a while to show the date and time, or a running time code? Any video editing software including Windows MovieMaker will let you do the first one (which is probably more useful). If you want running time code (not sure why you would want this for family DVD) you will most likely need to buy the software.

i m really new to video.... i have Power Director V5 that came with my laptop, but don't seem to have this feature of a running time stamp..... do i need additional software?

I m taking videos of my kids... so i believe 5-10 year download the road... when we look back.... we would be interested in the growth, when they are doing what....

I know that Sony DV Camcorder allow you to turn on or off the time stamp display. Just turn it on when you record/capture to DVD.
