Time lapse with surrounding sound

I recently record ants movement while my camera doing time lapse. The birds chirping could be heard from the ant clip. If the chirping sound is import to the time lapse, would it be nicer than having music as background? But those digital voice recorder not cheap and using phone to record also another option.

So, would you prefer original sound (if possible) or nice background music for time lapse?

It's ok to have both. Most NLEs allow for multitrack audio although the more basic ones may require some workaround.
If the NLE has only one audio track, make a movie with one track, reimport and add the second track.

I only got movie maker and so, sound control not that good. Recently did a video consist of small video clips, photos and time lapse of my taiwan trip.

At some part, I left out the mp3 as I want to hear the conversation. At other, the conversation too loud and over writes the mp3. As for time lapse, if got some audio clips of surrounding happening would be nice. Like the car sound, bird chirping etc. Will think of a way to make my future time lapse more interesting. :D
