One issue:

All sellers should have encountered this before.

Bumping of topics but only to have the topic's status renewed but not bumped to the first page. This, I believe, presents a problem to most buyers, especially those who are keen to offload equipment ASAP.

And also, the rule of creating new postings in a 3-day interval serves no purpose. First thing, bumping doesn't bring the topic to the front, so yes, there is a tendency to repost. This is the only thing the 3-day interval is preventing. But still, the point of the post being bumped to the front page is still not addressed. I for one feel that it's better for a topic to be able to bumped to the front. A suggestion is to limit the bumps per day, preferably to 3. Without this, the clear advantage is to the people who post a thread of similar items but later.

Also, a suggestion to delete B&S threads that are more than 30 days old, just going through hit makes no sense since most of it are unattended, some have been reposted, or some have been sold.

i believe the original intention by our Admins to impose the current practices was because of CSers abusing the ''upping'' of their threads in buy/sell by bumping it up every other min, hence creating multi-page threads. where they find the time to constantly push their threads up the view, i have no idea.

i agree on that, but to limit the bump post to 3 times a day, would be too tedious for the mods to manage, unless the forum system has a way to automate that?

it would be good to have closed threads kept for referencing, but it would be nice to have them moved to another sub-section, similar to the one used in the photoshoot section

Well I just figured out that you could change the way you want the threads to be displayed.

But then again, the default I presume is First Thread Post, rather than Last Post Time. Having it defaulted to Last Post Time would be better.

As for the bumping thing, I think moderators could just simply monitor those threads that have more than 4 or 5 replies and see the intervals in between. Where people find the time to bump their topics ever so frequently, we don't know. But the thing is if they're bumping that much, they're probably going for a quick sale, so let's not get in their way, unless they're bumping at like 2-3 hour intervals so religiously.

I'm sure this has an implication on the servers but I'm not too sure how serious it is.

the bumping actually still works, if the user (mostly those that frequent B&S will known the way the threads are displayed) press the last post button to sort by last post,

Which probably means most people won't do it. :)

and now we see people doing mass sales in B&S..
