Thread views: just how accurate are they?

This regards to my own thread I posted since May 2011 in the landscape section:

As of 22nd of December 2011, it has generated over 27, 700 + views since May (and I thank those who read it ) . I don't know for most guys but that sounds a little... how should I put it, unbelievably 'fake' for such a simple thread like that especially for a short period of time, 7+ months? :dunno: I think.

Now here's the thing: I've observed the view count for a long time now and has been bugging me ever since, and it seems as though it had over 1000 to nearly 5000 or more views a week (and about 100 to almost 500+ a day) and has accumulated to 27, 000+ and counting. Just how accurate is this? Who views them, and if there's any way to see who linked to my thread and where the views are coming from? As far as I'm concerned, I'm not in any featured page, front page of Clubsnap, elsewhere or anything like that. So who could possibly be viewing them so many times?

It just all seems kinda weird though... :think:

I ask of this because I noticed other threads don't exhibit this behaviour and I thought it might have been a forum bug or some sort? Or a google web bot?

Clubsnap is a big community with many members/non members browsing everyday, i believe the view counts are simply because the photos shared in the thread are simply too beautiful, and i am one of those that can't stop opening the same thread to view whenever i have time ;p

well, if you observe properly, there are many threads that accumulate high view counts in short period, and they have one thing in common --> it is worth it to spend the time looking through the photos.

But in all seriousness, I'm still inclined to think its some bug or something. I find it weird to look at someone else's photos over again and again... LOL, I don't know, it's just me I guess. I did web design and PHP scripting (n00b style execution, still learning from others. ) before, from what I understand search engines like Yahoo and Google send web crawler bots to find and search pages and cache them. It's an indexer of some sort, and I guess they come into the my thread more often than average to update and cache pages due to alot of pics..... I think. Thus, the view counter gets updated and counts every bot that enters the thread? :dunno:
