bought a 3rd party bp511 battery rated at 1800mah last week. But after using, i find it quite week, worse than my original 1100mah battery when using on my pro90IS, only can took 70 pics. And the charging time also shorter than the original one? Is it normal? Do I need to go for the one to one exchange at the shop?? thank you for you comment.

I would suggest that you bring the batt back to the shop and demand for a one to one exchange...

Now, I am having second thought about getting 3rd party batt...

Anyone else think otherwise...??

Sometime, I think the Canon 10D uses AA size batt, then I don't need to worry about batt... :D

So far I got no problem for my 2x MegaPower BP511 ( 1250 mAh ) ...

Just a suggestion, could the batteries not have been conditioned yet ?

Symptoms - fast charging time. Perhaps you can try again after a few charge-discharge cycles.

Hope this helps.

thank you for your advice. I have charged this battery for 2 times. First time was only 1 hour, and I took 70 pics. Second time I charge it for more than 2.5hours, but also only 70 pics, faint!!

Bluenight,

Sorry to hear what happen with your 3rd party BP-511.

Many 3rd party batteries do not possess the capacity which they claim to have. Some even claim that they are made in Japan when they are actually made in Mainland China.

If you are interested, I can run a test on your 1800mAh BP-511 to determine its true charge capacity, using the Maha MH-C777PLUS-II Battery Analyzer

Only Maha BP-511 1300mAh compatible batteries can claim to have minimum 1300mAh true charge capacity. Maha low impedence design ensures cool battery operation so that most of the battery energy goes into powering the camera instead of being wasted as heat.

I have sold many Maha BP-511 Compatible batteries (made using U.S. technology) in Singapore without any complains. Some even claim that the Maha batteries last 20% longer than the Canon originals.

What is the selling price for the Maha BP-511 1300mAh...??

Can it be charged on the Canon Batt Charger CB-5L...??

I'm selling the Maha BP-511 for S$59.95, it's selling for US$40 in the states

If the Canon charger is an intelligent charger, then shouldn't be a problem.
