Thinking of servicing my dad's Minolta X-700 and wideangle

Anyone has any place to recommend?
Pls name the price as well.

How much would the Minolta Service Center charge roughly?
Is there a fixed price, or do I have to bring the camera down for them to have a looksee first?


I'm a newbie to photography. Please inform me if I made any mistakes.

I believe the lens, viewfinder, mirror are dirty.

The shutter curtain and stuff are fine. I tried pressing, hearing the shutter sound..

So I need to find a shop to clean my lens and wideangle.

U can bring your gear to The Camera Workshop at Peninsula Plaza.

They can give u a quote on the spot if its just routine lens cleaning and maintenance.

They've a group of helpful and friendly staff.

Good alternatives are: Cam_x (same building as the camera workshop, opposite the coffeeshop), Prime camera (Peninsula shopping center next to Cathay Photo). Guess the costs should be around S$40-55 for cleaning fungus for one item (but no guarantee as fungus may be very bad to your lens).

it's good to sent your cam in for a overhaul once every 2 yrs.overhaul means we strip your cam till the shutter & oil it,recalibration & cleaning the prism,screen etc.it's a very hard work which require at least half a day.estimate at around $80-$120 body alone.lens wise will be from $40-$50 onwards.

As i am working in minolta, i use back minolta cam.for electronic cam or any cam,it's always good to go back to the original company to repair products.honestly speaking,do you trust the 2nd party shops?are they well train?where do they get training for repairing cameras?we don't know.
