What's your opinion for the Lumix 50-200/2.8-4? Can it replace that 40-150?

Which 40-150, the older ,40-150 f2.8 or newer 40-150 f4 both are pro lens. Which body are you using? What are you looking for, sharpness or lens character? What is the lens used for? There are reviews online.

Will it be lighter? Sharper? Extra 50mm reach but more than 2 stops less light.

If u are using Olympus bodies, some of the functions like AF procapture mode cannot be used on Lumix lens. Take note.
Have u consider add a Mc-14 on the 40-150/2.8 pro? Sharpness and AF will not be affected with MC14.

Lumix 50 - 200 is more expensive and does not have tripod collar for this "weighty" lens. It is sharp from 50 - 200. Do note Olympus Tele convertors may not fit but there are Lumix teleconvertors and may be more expensive.

More important question is the weight, it is almost double the weight of Olympus 40 - 150 f4.
Lumix is 655gm vs 382gm of Olympus.

Yes Lumix is 50mm longer ( 100mm X2 crop factor ). Really depends what you are shooting.

Thanks all. Will have to reconsider that DOUBLE the weight issue.

If you're comparing the Panasonic 50-200mm f2.8-4 to your Olympus 40-150mm f2.8, then the Olympus lens is actually heavier

Most reviews don't take into account of your situation that you're using an Olympus/OM body and you already own the Olympus 40-150mm f2.8... for me I'll also consider if the Panasonic will meet your needs much more than the Olympus such that it justifies the process of buying the Panasonic lens and maybe selling off the Olympus one
