Just broke my 3rd thermometer onto the sink last nite.

Any kind soul can advise where to get the long generic analog mercury type thermometer (can use for stiring) in Singapore, other than CP and Ruby?

Thanks.

seng cheong sells it.

do a search for the shop name,it is at middle road.

Mercury is very toxic and can easily break into very small droplets that cannot be seen. These will give off mercury vapor slowly. It is a health risk over time. Some sensitive people even get a headache just being in a lab that had residual mercury from previous accidents.

By the way, it is not advisable to use a mercury thermometer for stirring, for the above reasons.

Buy those with the red liquid inside, I think they are colored alcohols (can't remember) that have very low toxicities.

If you insist on mercury thermometers (they are actually more accurate and responsive), then there are some which are lined with a plastic coating which can contain the breakage, those you can order from lab suppliers.

Try shops selling cooking equipment. I got my through one of this. It is the best themometer I ever have. Because it allow you to stir with it and recal it.

Digital thermometer (4 inch probe) with max and min memory. $25 at basement of Sim Lim Tower. I have two. One is sufficient; however, my baby hid it for a while so I got another one.

thermocouple $15.00
Calibrated Tektronix TX3 Multimeter $680.00
not only tells temperature in degrees celcius or farenheit
( to 2 decimal places )
also does electrical resistence, voltages & amperage etc : )

also from Sim Lim Tower
