Hi,

Thinking of going camping in different places around Singapore occasionally. Just for a touch of "adventure" in Singapore, and "training" for overseas vacations...;)

Know of any places where tent-pitching is allowed for, ahem, independent small-timers (that means not organised associations)? Does anyone know if it's done in Sentosa?

Of course, it'll be nice if the places are also good for a bit of late-night or early-morning photography.

1. Changi Beach
2. East Coast Beach

Well you should be happy to know, it is alot easier to camp outdoor now with your tent. At one time you need a permit for all this stuff. I use to like doing this too when I am on my moutain bike and cycling around east coast and changi beach.

Here is a link to some information that will be useful for you to plan your camping trip.

Cheers

If you are looking for adventures, camp inside the jungles! There are still some kampung areas in SG, in Punggol there is one that I know of: Lorong Buangkok..........

Of course you can..you just have to pay for it. Didn't you guys read the link I gave to Kaywalk? All the info you need is there including whether you can or can't camp in Pasir Ris with a permit. Which by the way, you dont need one. :P

Camping in jungle or small forest around Singapore is possible but you can be subjected to some rude "spot check" if someone see torch light shining here and there at night and if camping mean you want to set up a campfire, becareful that is not allowed in most outgrowth places plus your dont want to start a forest fire. You get spot checks due to the fact that police will go in to check if reports come in that some unknow activity is taking place. Illegal immigrate especially like to stay in the forest when they are not working, they have been know to make community encampment with makeshift wooden planks with even women and kids in the camp. Or it could be one of those temporary hookers or gambling dens you have heard about in the past. Done some of those raids when I was an active Police reservist. Damn I miss those days. What could be worst then being search by the police? Get rob by those illegal immigrat and they are hard to trace since their record is not on file with any labour dept or company due to their illegal status. So that might not be a good choice. Pick a park instead....safer and with all the creature comfort of modern living nearby to you in case you need it :)

Well, that's part of the adventure, isn't it? :-)
