Maybe u should consider Nikon 500mm MF P lens...u only lose the AF. Its cheap on Ebay...

huh ? wouldnt it be too slow for high intense action ? cos i tried a 600mm MF f/4... wah.. cant even capture flight shots.. or maybe i like **** ?

for me , i used sigma 50-500 for long distance shoot

and plus tc 2x for long long distance ,but MF

as long as you're not intending to shoot at night or in low lights, afs 300 f/4 + 1.4TC (420mm @ f/5.6) or 1.7TC (510mm @ f/6.7) good enuff. i've used sigma 50-500 before, and compare to afs 300 f/4 prime plus TC, the latter still sharper and slight faster. 50-500 is slower and softer and heavier.

GEt a 300 or 400 2.8 then add TC.

AF VR 80-400mm + 1.7x
