hi

WIll be goin for my 1st technical mobilisation soon...Ops manning next month.

Both are my first time

Can the old birds here teach me, what exactly is ops manning? its a 1 week thingie....

any tips /tricks?

Standard SOP

* Update your contacts, especially mobile phone/address at www.ns.sg or formation/division NS HRC

* Pack your full pack according to unit SOP and standard

* Rem your activation codeword and check whether you are a key appointment holder or in the advance party

* Relax and enjoy the week, activation is likely to be on Sat, rarely on Sun :)

* You should have at least 2-3 manning period a year. A unit is normally activated once every 2-3 years (depending on last activation results) ;p

must we bring sbo and helmet back?

Yes I believe we have to bring our sbo and field pack with all items inside.

Can I ask, I actually have a set of field pack items packed during my ns days. my no.4 inside has no rank sew. would they open and check every item? I had a hard time packing it during my bmt days...its very nicely secured with skotch tape.

would they tear it open to check ?

Normally no :) but i did open a few from my company during our last mob as the CO was there and he said must do random check lor! Then he instruct the RSM with RPs and all the Company commanders to do it ;p

Very troublesome man!

From my experience, my unit never check full pack items during turn out. Men reported back to specified location and then signed and released.

It depends on individual units. Some are quite on.

Better to bring your field bag, webbing & helmet.

My unit was switched off once - we only brought ourselves back in no.4 & nothing happened.:bsmilie:

After 2 or 3 years, the unit got fed up & imposed $50 fine for any missing item required for the turn-out.

Anyway, technical turn-out is ok - just turn up with your gear, sign your attendence & then balik. Watch out for the operational turn out, that's a weekend burner.

If activated, you are suppose to report back with all your FBO items.

Depending on your unit RSM - mine was quite strict - The FBO items must be packed according to the guidelines issued. ie: pack 1 = uniform etc etc. Those that had incomplete items or had the items simply stuffed into the backpacks were held back and out-pro last.
